Anatomy of a crooked spine
The third in our first batch of New Creative projects, director Kate Morrison, choreographer Belinda Grantham, and dancer Alison Eager created a visually captivating dance film, exploring the director’s personal experience with spinal fusion surgery.
DOP James Oldham, working with mostly natural light, managed to capture our dancer’s struggle perfectly, and the film is now having success in the film festival circuit, featuring at Aesthetica and New Renaissance film festival in London. Now viewable on iPlayer (link below).

There were a number of clever camera and art department moments on this shoot, from twisting and pulling the rope off-camera, to rigging an interactive rope pulley above her head - our dancer Alison certainly had a lot to think about in this tiring one day shoot, but she was relentlessly professional and poised throughout.
